OUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

ENGEL

FUNCTION FIRST

To us, function is more than just utility; it is a combination of the right fit and function-first design. Ensuring the right fit for industry takes into consideration any specific workplace requirements and certifications to meet the demands of different industries. The right fit for the wearer concerns the fit of the clothing to the body, offering maximum freedom of movement, comfort, protection and durability. Function first is our design philosophy. We believe that the utility of a garment should be intuitive, so there is a place for everything and everything is in its place.

To us, the details are not simply the details, they make the design. Every detail is considered from the placement of pockets to ensure things are within easy reach, to smart functional features such as click-on/click-off hanging tool pockets that can easily transfer from one garment to another, to reinforced CORDURA® material where it is needed most, so garments withstand the demands of daily wear. The result of combining the right fit with function-first design, is a line of workwear that is truly fit for purpose; making the working day for professional tradesmen and women as easy, efficient, safe and comfortable as possible.

Functional Workwear, since 1927

We don’t simply design functional workwear, we engineer it. Developing workwear for all kinds of industrial work, our design process starts with the wearing purpose and the human form. We then add functional features to the design to make the clothing fit for purpose: high-quality zippers to withstand daily wear, areas of highly durable material where it is needed most, panels of stretch fabrics for increased mobility and the considered placement of industry certified reflectors, knee-pad compartments and hanging tool pockets.

Collaborating with the best in the business, we also have the knowledge of trade and industry to ensure that ENGEL Workwear meets industry standards, international certifications and the demands of each type of craftsman, so it performs optimally for their trade. From our decades of textile production comes a deep understanding of which materials to use for different purposes, catering to differing workplace demands. Blending function-first design with this material expertise, ENGEL workwear is designed to protect, engineered for comfort and made to last. The result is numerous patented designs and award-winning collections, since 1927.

ENGEL

Passion for a craft

Every stitch considered. What began as a passion for trade and industry has led to the production of functional workwear, since 1927. Our years of experience, development and expertise in textile innovation, combined with our deep knowledge of trade and industry requirements, are woven into the core of the ENGEL Workwear collection. With the knowledge and know- how required, our dedicated team knows exactly where to use a single, double or triple stitch to strengthen the structure of a garment, offer increased mobility to the wearer or complement the fibres of a chosen fabric for a specific wearing purpose.

This experience drives us to push the boundaries of fit, comfort and functionality to meet the modern-day demands of versatility and all-day wear. We collaborate with professional tradesmen and women on the job to ensure our products are fit for industry demands. Every product is tested and this valuable feedback–from the position, number and size of pockets, to the length of jackets and trousers, to the ease of transferring hanging tool pockets from one garment to another, to the placement of concealed buttons and zippers for attire which could come in contact with delicate materials or surfaces–is designed into the range. We also consider the human form and carefully select the right fabric, cut and placement of every detail down to the last stitch, for workwear that delivers maximum comfort, mobility and durability.

Material innovation

Passed on for four generations, we draw on our material expertise from decades of textile production to deliver the most comfortable clothing for different wearing purposes. Just as the pioneering spirit of the Engel family turned their curiosity of textiles into a business in 1927, today we still proudly develop materials that enhance comfort and increase the functionality of our line of workwear. Adopting revolutionary techniques, such as being the first to add a unique cotton backing to our signature line of stretch fabrics for extra comfort, is true to our passion for material innovation. We carefully consider each detail – down to a single stitch–from the fibres of a fabric, to the material lining, to the cut of a design, before the sewing machines are even switched on.

Our efforts to deliver increased mobility and flexibility, extra durability to withstand the demands of tough industrial wear and a range of material technologies to keep the wearer comfortable in all weathers, continues. The result is our own line of windproof layers, water repellent treatments, breathable membranes and insulating layers, which offer all-day comfort to the wearer, all year round. While our passion for material innovation still runs deep and sets the foundation of our entrepreneurial mindset, some things never change. We value the importance of personally handling materials and garments for hand-finished customisation. Embroidery, logo transfers and personal packaging are delivered by our dedicated team of professionals in Denmark, just as they were when production first began. We take pride in understanding the needs of our customers to deliver a range of workwear that meets their exact requirements and specifications.
